Blazy Construction was the general contractor for the recent construction of the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge Center located in Kodiak Alaska.

Blazy Construction and their sub-contractors provided exemplary service. When confronted with a two month delay in the delivery of structural steel, Blazy Construction redirected resources, expedited the construction schedule and completed the project on time. Blazy Construction and their sub-contractors suggested numerous design changes that provided a higher quality facility with lower operations and maintenance costs.

Blazy Construction has also been involved in two other Fish & Wildlife contracts as a sub-contractor. These projects included the re-roofing of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters in Soldotna, Alaska and the renovation of two campgrounds located at Lower Ohmer Lake and Watson Lake near Sterling, Alaska. The headquarters roofing took place during the months of November and December. This is the worst season in Alaska to be engaged in exterior contruction but yet again Blazy provided a high quality service that was completed ahead of schedule.

On all of these projects Blazy Construction met and exceeded the contract document specifications, particularly in quality and performance. Blazy Constructions’ crews continually strive to provide their clients high quality service.

Blazy Construction was the Prime Contractor for the Sterling Weigh Station Replacement.

The project was awarded February 8, 2010 and was substantially completed on September 24th, 2010, approximately $14,000 under budget, which allowed us as owners to add items not in the contract

Throughout the design and construction of this project, Randy has orchestrated and maintained open communication between all participants, especially myself as the owner representative. He and his well picked design consultants were extremely flexible in executing a quality and innovative design that they tailored to our unique needs.

I am impressed with the quality of Blazy’s construction work, their adherence to construction specifications and requirements, their attention to detail, and Randy’s personal pride in the quality of his work. I appreciate the professional standards and integrity they have brought to this project, and believe they have resulted in a high quality facility that will serve us well in the years to come.

I have worked with many contractors over my 30 years with the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, therefore recognize and appreciate the quality and integrity with which this company has performed on this project. They were an absolute pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend them to any agency or firm that is considering awarding a contract to them.

Laura Edwards, Transportation Planner II – State of Alaska Dept. of Transport & Public Facilities

I have managed dozens of LEED projects across the United States working on all aspects of the project including design, design/build and construction only projects. I specialize in working in the unique and challenging environment of Alaska which adds a layer of complexity to the LEED Certification process, particularly on the Construction side

The project I worked with Blazy on was the Kenai Readiness Center. The LEED process during construction requires a lot of organization, patience, tracking and communication with subcontractors. I was extremely impressed, especially considering that this was their first LEED project, with the product Blazy produced. Not only was their tracking on waste and materials completed, but they required very little assistance from me.

They are a rare pleasure to work with. I have not worked with many contractors who had their level of attention to detail and organizational skills with the LEED process. I think it comes down to the fact that they believe that LEED is an integral part of the project and they seriously desire to provide the client with a high quality and sustainable product.

I highly recommend their LEED construction skills and I look forward to the opportunity to work with them on Future projects.

We recently had the pleasure of working with the skilled craftsmen and project manager/owner of Blazy Construction on a project for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in Kodiak, Alaska.

Blazy Construction exceeded our expectations and was an instrumental part in making the construction process smooth, efficient, and successful. It was obvious from the beginning that they were a tight knit group, and had the skills to execute a technically challenging project in a remote location with a complex design.

We would highly recommend Blazy Construction for future projects. As a result of our collaboration we have recommended them to private sector clients and owners without hesitation.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation for all the hard work Randall Nelson and Blazy Construction, Inc., applied toward the successful completion of the AVTEC Distance Training Center in Seward, Alaska.

Randy’s role was pivotal in this complex and demanding Design-Build project which was completed prior to the scheduled completion date.

Blazy Contruction, Inc. worked with the AVTEC and Department staff members from the initial concept stage and provided insightful guidance throughout the construction process. With their assistance, AVTEC now enjoys the premier educational facility designed to reach classrooms far from accessible roadways and distant campuses throughout Alaska.

Again we wish to extend our deepest appreciation for your commitment to excellence, willingness to work beyond the norm and honesty. You are a customer-based company and we look forward to working with you in the future.

Jim Horn & Kim Mahoney, State of Alaska, Dept. of Transport & Public Facilities

I have had the opportunity to work with Blazy Construction on several occasions over the years. Most recently was November of 2008 when I remodelled 2 of my 3 restaurants. This was an extensive project that spanned over several weeks and I am very pleased with the outcome.

I have used Blazy for exterior, interior and foundation work. They have always operated with my best interest in mind. They will always do what’s needed to get the job done on time and within budget. When extra effort is needed, they don’t hesitate to do what needs to be done. If something comes up that they are unfamiliar with, the time is put in to learn about the task, so it is done right. If something is not done to my satisfaction, all I have to do is call them and they take care of it right away.

Blazy Construction is on my list of preferred vendors and I would recommend Kelly, Randy and the rest of their staff to take on any commercial job, whether it is new construction or remodel work, you may have.

I would like to thank the entire Blazy Construction Organization for their quality workmanship and professionalism on the recent completion of the Administrative Office building for Marathon Oil Company.

The entire Blazy Construction crew demonstrated outstanding skill and craftsmanship, which resulted in a facility that has met and exceeded our expectations. From the designing stages and throughout the entire building process, everyone involved in this project was very attentive to the details, which made the finished building extremely functional, spacious and attractive.

Safety is critically important to every project we undertake at Marathon and the Blazy crew demonstrated excellent safety leadership and knowledge.

I would highly recommend Blazy Construction to those who are considering any type of design-build project and I would welcome the opportunity to work with them again in the future.

Todd Paxton, Construction Supervisor – Marathon Oil Corporation

The Shell Alaska water survival and helicopter underwater egress training (HUET) program in Kenai has come to a close for 2007. This year’s program was a wonderful success; we safely trained in excess of 400 people in a very short period of time.

A number of factors contributed to the success of the 2007 Alaska “HUET Blitz” including a well-designed, safe training facility built by Blazy. We thank Blazy Construction for your “can do” sprit and consider that a key success factor. Shell presented Blazy a major challenge to rapidly engineer and construct the HUET facility at KCHS. Despite the myriad of entities involved – Kenai Borough, Shell, Survival Systems, the Department of Labor, etc – Blazy did a superb job to safely deliver the facility in an amazingly short period of time. Your project management and delivery results were indeed impressive.

Thank you for your quality work, commitment to safety, professional capabilities, response to adversity, and for providing a team of excellent people (including your subcontractors) whom we remain pleased to work with.
